Information

This moth is distributed widely, though not commonly, throughout a large part of Britain, it is scarcer in Scotland and Ireland, and inhabits marshes and fenland. It is found in Europe and in Northern Ireland it is found in counties Down, Armagh, Fermanagh and in south Tyrone.

This moth is usually found in bogs, fens, flushes and damp woodland, but these moths can sometimes be found in gardens.


Similar Species

Muslin Footman (Nudaria mundana).

Adult Images

The wingspan of this moth is 15-20 mm.

This moth can often be mistaken for a micro moth because of its small appearance and this reason it can be overlooked and can be under recorded. The sparsely scaled wings of this moth give it a thin, papery appearance.
